Meet Reverend Kathy
Rev. Kathy Snedeker
Thank you for visiting the Traverse Bay United Methodist Church on the web. While our church rests next to the lovely waters of the Bay, this is not a church at rest! Traverse Bay is a church where renewal in worship, spiritual care through study and prayer and warm fellowship occurs every week so that we are empowered to be an extension of the transforming love of Christ through our mission to this community and God’s world. You’ll find Traverse Bay folks everywhere from Haiti to Habitat!
If you are new and looking for a place to call your church home – welcome! I’m new too! I received the appointment to Traverse Bay U.M.C. in July, 2016. I have been an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church since 1987. Originally from Ann Arbor, my home church is the Dixboro United Methodist Church on the Ann Arbor District.
I received my undergraduate degree from Albion College and my Masters of Divinity from Duke University Divinity School. Since my first appointment in 1985, I have served congregations in Flushing, Dearborn (Good Shepherd) and served for nineteen years at Saginaw First U.M.C. before coming to Traverse Bay.
My husband, Rev. Dr. Hal Ferris, is a retired United Methodist pastor. We reside with our large and spoiled chocolate Labrador Retriever on Birch Lake in Elk Rapids. We feel truly blessed to call Traverse Bay U.M.C. home and pray that you will find it a great place to serve Christ with us.
